Être un touriste : « Touriste ! »
Le touriste est une personne qui travaille, qui prend des vacances, qui fait du tourisme. Ce temps est un temps-repos, toujours donc compris dans la permanence du temps-travail. Il lui faut donc rentabiliser ce temps de vacances : il doit être un bon touriste. Mais le touriste c’est aussi celui qui pratique en dilettante, en amateur. C’est un terme péjoratif qui souligne une certaine nonchalance dans la tâche. Que serait alors un touriste professionnel ? Quelqu’un qui fait bien son travail de touriste ?
Il s’agit de tenter une parallaxe qui se déroule en trois phases :
Une phase expérimentale : faire du tourisme chez soi, aussi proposé comme protocole.
Une phase théorique qui relève de questionnements à propos de la posture et des milieux.
Et une phase de restitution qui est la forme publique et hybride mêlant l’expérience et la réflexion.
La restitution se constitue d’un texte qui est lu pendant la projection d’un album photo, suivi d’une discussion autour de cette figure du touriste professionnel.
Sur le plan expérimental, il s’agit de déterminer un temps inoccupé, de pause, de vide, de vacance, sur le lieu de vie, de travail, le lieu du non-inconnu. Regarder à nouveau. Contempler. Le dictionnaire étymologique propose : théorie : science qui traite de la contemplation. (Site CNRTL). Tout va bien. Théoriquement donc : proposer la posture de l’ignorant professionnel, du naïf, celui qui pose les questions de base. Etre professionnellement celui qui ne maîtrise pas. Si l’on observe les milieux professionnels, ils s’avèrent être assez opaques à celui qui ne maîtrise ni les codes, ni les langages d’un milieu ou d’un autre.
Au-delà de la question de la curiosité ou de l’intérêt que nous portons aux choses, il y a surtout encore cette question de temps. Dans le fonctionnement du quotidien, très établi, un territoire très défini, il n’existe quasiment aucune parcelle d’espace vacant qui ne soit pas formalisée. Occuper le temps et même plus : le remplir dans chaque recoin. Pas de temps pour la vacance. Et donc pas de temps pour le doute. Savoir, maitriser, être sûr.

To be a tourist: “Tourist!”
A tourist is a person who works and takes vacations, someone who practices tourism. Their relaxation time is always counted within the working time. One must, therefore, get the most out of this vacation time—one must be a good tourist. But the tourist is also an amateur, someone who practices a hobby. It is a pejorative term that highlights a certain nonchalance in the task. Who would a professional tourist be? Someone who does a good job at being a tourist?
The goal is to create a parallax that happens in three phases:
An experimental phase of being a tourist at home (also a proposed protocol).
A theoretical phase that brings up questions about stature and surroundings.
And a final restitution phase that is public, bringing together experience and reflection.
The final product consists of a text that is read aloud during the projection of a photo album, followed by a discussion about the image of the professional tourist.
The experimental phase serves to define a time that is unoccupied, a time consisting of pauses, of voids, of vacancies, in the everyday sphere, the workplace—the place of the non-unknown. Looking again. Contemplating. The etymological dictionary offers: Theory: the science dealing with contemplation. (Website CNRTL). All is well. Theoretically, therefore: play the role of the ignorant professional, of the naïve, of someone who asks the most basic questions. To professionally be the one who has no skills. Professional environments prove to be completely incomprehensible for someone who does not possess the codes or the vocabulary of said occupation.
Going beyond a question of curiosity or our general interest in things, there is still, even more importantly, the question of time. In the well-established daily routine, a sharply defined territory, there exists virtually no vacant span of time that is not formalized. It’s necessary to occupy our time and not only that but fill it to every corner. No time for vacancy. So, no time for doubt. Knowing, mastering, being certain.
